We’ve started to get Dunkin’ Donuts commercials in the area as of late, but I can’t think of one in the immediate area. There’s one they’re playing now that is about a year old, but it’s commonly referred to as “Fritalian”, and it is pretty much a jab at the crazy names some places use for coffee drinks was rather amusing. I’ve embedded it below on the off chance you haven’t seen it. However, I’d like to take the time to comment on one of the drinks listed, at about 9 seconds, and again at 14 seconds: Himan Plu Cento.
Got that? Himan Plu Cento.
Do you see what I’m getting at? Try saying it fast. When you get to the point where ‘himan’ sounds like ‘human’ and ‘plu’ and ‘cento’ start merging into one word, you’re there. Try ordering one of those next time you’re at a coffee store.

Wow… that commercial is so old! I think it’s more than a year old now. Here in New England, Dunkin Donuts is king. In my old apartment, I had 2 of them within half a mile. In my new one, I have 1 that’s about 3/4 of a mile and one that’s like 3 blocks from me. RI actually has the highest number of donut shops per capita in the country.
An interesting thing about that commercial is that’s They Might Be Giants singing the song (they’re originally from Lincoln, MA, and MA is where DD originated).
That’s TMBG? I couldn’t tell until after you mentioned it.
BG is sort of the no-man’s land in regards to all but the most common chain stores. We have a Tim Horton’s, which isn’t overly common, but because Tim Horton’s and Wendy’s merged, and Wendy’s started in Columbus. I can only assume that they (DD) are making a bigger push in this area, they just opened one closer to BG, or they plan on opening one closer to or in BG. That’s only based on the timing of the TH commercials when it was being built/opened. Regardless, it’s a funny commercial.
I prefer to get my coffee and donuts from the local stores in town, Grounds For Thought and Stimmel’s Market respectively, but that’s because they’re not only local, but they’re good quality too. I’m sure it’ll be hard to find someplace similar once we leave BG, but so it goes.
Try HYMAN = HYMEN ; hymen and placenta are a bit more specifically related…
I stand corrected.
Or perhaps “I blog corrected”?
