Stargate is back tonight

Real Life Comic for 4/13/07

That’s right, Stargate is back on tonight. In fact, the wife and I went out last night for dinner and then groceries so we wouldn’t have to go out tonight and could stay in. I’m tempted to install LotRO on my laptop so I can ply LotRO while watching SG, but I may have to forgo LotRO entirely.

My apartment is working against me

For not quite the last week, I have been on online sporadically while not at work. Aside from reading the 5 book series by David Eddings The Belgariad, my Internet connection has been rather flaky, sometimes not connecting for many hours or loading pages extremely slowly. It’s not Time Warner’s fault, as my sister-in-law’s fiancé has not had issues with his connection, and they are only two doors down from us in the apartment complex, and the cable television is working fine. The modem has already been replaced when I encountered this issue last September/October, so that can’t be the problem. Also, when this happened last time I spoke with a tech support person who was helpful, and if he couldn’t pin down the issue, and I had already tried everything that needed to be done. That leads it to be the wiring in my apartment that some how is going retarded, but only occasionally. The only other possibility is that somehow there is a problem with the connection to the complex for my apartment that sometimes has issues that only affect the Internet connection, but not television, which seems doubtful. The fact that a year went by before this became an issue is odd as well.

As a result, I haven’t been able to play as much Lord of the Rings Online as I might want to, but considering the weather has been rather pleasant (until today), I’ve taken advantage of that, and in a week’s time I have read the first 4 books of The Belgariad, with the last book being read in just under a day’s time even though I had to go to work, eat, and sleep. All in all, I think it took me 6 to 7 hours to read the entire book, which isn’t too bad. When I finished, I whistled the beginning of the Final Fantasy victory music.

Sure, I checked the modem every hour or so to see if it had come back on, but aside from that, I was able to go about my daily life with little issue. I wasn’t without things to do, as I’m sure I would have found something else to do if I didn’t have anything to read. Reminds me of last Wednesday or Thursday where, for a handful of hours, the Verizon Wireless network arbitrarily went stupid, at least for me and the people I know. You were able to place a call, but would immediately go to the voicemail; your phone wouldn’t ring. I managed to live without my phone while that was happening, and I’ve been able to live without my Internet connection.
