When I started my job, I didn’t have two monitors, but I did have two computers: a desktop and a laptop. I could use a KVM (keyboard-video-mouse) switch, but that would have just been one more bulky piece of equipment on my desk. What I found instead was a program called Synergy, which acts a KVM across a network, but in a much better manner. It was great to use then, but once I went to only having a laptop and a second monitor I had no need for it. A couple weekends ago, I needed to have my laptop at home, but didn’t want to use the laptop keyboard and mouse, and wanted to use my desktop computer’s instead. That’s where Synergy comes into play.
Synergy certainly makes using my laptop at home a lot easier. All I have to do is move my mouse off the left hand side of my desktop, and the mouse appears on the right hand side of the laptop. It makes having and using two computers a lot easier, and doesn’t require expensive equipment and cabling to get the job done either. I think I am going to also set it up on my wife’s machine in case I need to help her with anything, I don’t have to move from my computer.
The artist, Joel, who does diftflake has finished up his series “Zoo of the Untrue“. At this time, sadly, he is not going to make it into a book, which is too bad; it would have been a great way to teach children the alphabet. After all, kids can barely read as it is, so how hard can it be to write for them?

Poor, poor Aquaman; no body loves him.
I found Last Place Comics a couple months ago, and just find the comics, when updated, to be greatly amusing. Following “300″, and everyone using that quote “Spartans….hell!”, he made the following comic:

And I’ll end this post with a Dr. Mario reference.

Each spring, the division of Student Affairs at BGSU holds an awards and recognition program. At this program, there are a variety of awards given out, including the Friend of Student Affairs award. This year, it was announced that the award would be renamed the Timothy D. King Friend of Student Affairs Award. This year’s recipient was Dr. J. Christopher Dalton, the Senior VP for Finance and Administration at BGSU, who was Tim’s first supervisor on campus.
Every now and then there’ll be a comment or conversation in the office about the “BGSYou” advertising that BGSU has been using for the last couple semesters. However, consider what the alternative could be:

I need to remember to ask my boss if this is what convince him to come to BGSU in the 90s.
In case anyone really wants that commercial, be sure to check out Media Convert, can take a variety of file types and convert them into other file type. This is useful for turning YouTube or Google videos into Windows Media or Apple Quicktime formats, MP3s to ringtones, or any number of other data or file conversions.
