UCPD officers shot a student several times with a Taser inside the Powell Library CLICC computer lab late Tuesday night before taking him into custody. At around 11:30 p.m., CSOs asked a male student using a computer in the back of the room to leave when he was unable to produce a BruinCard during a random check.
I came across this on digg, which links to Crooks and Liars. I actually saw a duplicate posting on digg, with the first one being here. (I should have looked for duplicate postings.) While I’m not saying I don’t trust things I read on digg, I wanted some more information, so I went to the UCLA website and did a search for their student newspaper, which is called the Daily Bruin. From the online version of the newspaper, I found a link to an article titled Community responds to Taser use in Powell.
I probably wouldn’t have heard about this without digg, as I don’t see anything about this in the BGSU paper, nor do I read any nation-wide online sites relating to campus events, though I probably should. Anyway, while not something to necessarily enjoy, you should still watch the video and read the article.
A student was quoted at the end of the article.
“It certainly makes you wonder if something as small as forgetting your BruinCard can eventually lead to getting Tased several times in front of the library.”

In a repeat of something I said not-quite 24 hours ago, I have finished putting up pictures from my Seattle trip this past summer.
They can be found [?link:http://www.sean-ward.com/?q=image/tid/59 here].
I saw this on Digg, and had to post it.
Mary Poppins as a horror film? The Ten Commandments as a comedy? See what would happen if directors had a ‘different’ vision of these classic films.
I had already seen the Shining remake, but the other 4 were fantastic, especially the one about The Ten Commandments.

I finally got around to putting up some of the pictures I took this summer when Andy and I went out to visit Chris. They can be found [?link:http://www.sean-ward.com/?q=image/tid/59 here]. More shoudl be coming sometime in the near future.
It’s odd how just looking at and posting pictures (both in that album or the computer) of people you know can make you feel better after a long day.
Drupal’s also smart. This session started before midnight, so even though some of the pictures were put up after midnight, and it’s almost 1 AM, this is all still included as updates for Monday.
I should be going to bed, but I noticed some items on my site that I wanted to comment on.
- Someone found my IEEE search tool useful, so much so that they blogged about it. That gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Thank you, Jason.
- Someone not only read my post about Pat Haines, but also commented on it. Thank you, Megan Wanat.
It’s just different to see incoming traffic that isn’t anonymous or from people I know. And to those of you who I do know who continue to stop by, thank you.
